Project Home Mission

Project Home Mission works with community organizations, such as churches and service clubs, to provide assistance to families that are in need of family development services, but do not qualify for the program. MICA's Family Development and Self-Sufficiency (FaDSS) program provides services to families receiving Family Investment Plan (FIP) assistance. But, some families that do not qualify for FaDSS or have transitioned off of the FaDSS program still need someone to guide them through the process of managing budgets, developing goals, and creating priorities. Project Home Mission allows service organizations to provide the necessary funding to help these families transition to a better life.

Project Home Mission Plans

Project Home Mission offers two plans to organizations who would like to support families through financial donations. Organizations have the option to fully fund a single family for one year, or they may select a supplemental donation that extends service to a family coming off FIP for three months.

Full Funding
To fully fund a family for one year, an organization makes an $1800 donation over the course of one year to Project Home Mission. As a result of this donation, a family or individual that does not qualify for FIP will be able to participate in MICA's FaDSS program, helping them set goals, manage a budget, and provide the support needed to rise out of poverty. Some examples of people in this situation may include a family in poverty but not qualified to receive FIP assistance, an elderly individual trying to make ends meet, or a family or individual with a medical condition that does not allow him or her to work any longer.

Supplemental Funding
In order to provide supplemental funding, an organization will make a $750 donation to Project Home Mission. This donation is for a three month period, allowing a family to continue to receive FaDSS assistance as they transition off of FIP. This extended service is crucial to MICA's FaDSS programs. Many of these families have recently received an increase in income that no longer qualifies them for many MICA services. This creates a sudden change in their budget management. New priorities need to be set and the guidance of a MICA Family Development Specialist is crucial in helping these families make the full transition from poverty to a life of self-sufficiency.

Any organization that chooses to take part in Project Home Mission will receive a newsletter, The Messenger, twice each year, detailing families or individuals that have been impacted by an organization's donation. Each organization will also receive updates on how their sponsored family is transitioning with the help of MICA Family Development Specialists and your donation.
