Head Start/Early Head Start

Head Start is a preschool for children ages 3 and 4.  It provides children with activities that help them grow mentally, socially, emotionally, and physically.

 

Child Development Center offers a child development program similar to Head Start for children ages 3-4 in Hawarden.  Parents are offered opportunities for education, support, socialization, and volunteerism.

 

Early Head Start offershome-based services to pregnant women and children ages 2 and under in Cherokee, Plymouth and Sioux counties.  Early Head Start has an incentive program to enhance parental skills and knowledge as it relates to the development of children.  Points that are earned when they meet with Family Advocates and are redeemed for new baby items.

 

Eligibility is 130% of Federal Poverty Guidelines with allowances for higher income familes with special needs.
