HACAP Programs & Services
Assessment and Resolution Energy Counseling
HACAP’s Assessment and Resolution Energy Counseling program (A&R Program) is established in order to provide energy efficiency education, budget counseling and incentives for qualified households.
Child & Adult Core Food Program (CACFP)
Nutritious meals are a fundamental need for all people, especially for growing children. Good nutrition promotes age-specific development and learning. It provides children with the building blocks necessary for maturation.
Child Care Nurse Consultant
Child care nurse consultant provides health and safety consultation and technical assistance to child care providers.
Child Care Resource and Referral
Child Care Resource & Referral has grown into a nationwide network of community-based agencies, which provide a consistent set of core services to parents, child care providers, employers and communities.
Community Development Initiative
The Community Development Initiative works to link private business, local government, concerned community members and low-income individuals and help them create solutions to local unemployment or under-employment.
Crisis Child Care
Crisis Child Care offers safe shelter for children in during times of family crisis. Care is provided in the homes of experienced and trained providers.
Embrace Iowa
Embrace Iowa is an annual program that provides a benefit for up to $500 for emergency relief. Relief is awarded between December 15th and January 15th.
Energy Assistance
Energy Assistance program provides energy crisis and bill payment assistance to elderly, disabled and low-income households.
Family & Community Health Alliance
HACAP understands the importance of meeting health and nutritional needs during critical times of developmental growth. We provide a variety of services for maternal, infant and child health.
Family Development
The Family Development Program consists of trained Family Advocates that provide services designed to strengthen families which are negatively impacted by the economic downturn. The program will coordinate a series of family centered events to teach families how to maintain sound nutritional practices, child development, youth activities, and healthy relationships during stressful economic situations. The Family Development Program is funded through the ARRA.
Food Reservoir
As a member of America's Second Harvest, the Nation's Food Bank Network, the HACAP Food Reservoir channels donated products to area soup kitchens, pantries, senior & child care centers, drug & alcohol centers and other non-profit food programs that feed the needy.
Head Start
HACAP focuses on early child development to provide essential resources to children during a critical time of growth.
Homeless Children's Trust
The Homeless Children's Trust, organized and run by volunteers, provides temporary assistance to homeless children in order to minimize the risks of educational and social failure associated with homelessness.
HPRP
HPRP is the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program, created as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The program offers financial assistance to help homeless individuals obtain rental housing or help near homeless individuals maintain their housing.
Lead-based Paint Services
According to the CDC lead poisoning is one of the most preventable child health problems today. HACAP's state certified inspectors can provide you with services to know if and where your home has lead-based paint concerns.
PACES
The PACES Providers program strengthens the quality and expands the availability of child care for families with infants and toddlers within Linn County.
Permanent Housing
HACAP manages a number of apartments and single-family dwellings for low-income families with children in the Linn county area.
Permanent Housing for Chronically Homeless Individuals
This program is designed to provide safe long-term housing for homeless individuals currently living in places not designed for human habitation.
Quality Early Childhood Environments
The mission of the Quality Early Childhood Environments(QECE) involves the improvement of locally licensed center-based child care.
Rural Senior Services
HACAP Senior Services currently provides meals, medical information, medical equipment loans and some property maintenance services for residents of Benton County sixty or more years of age.
Senior Employment Services
HACAP works with seniors interested in retooling their job skills and training through the Senior Internship Program (SIP) to foster their economic self-sufficiency, and enjoy the benefits of unsubsidized employment in the private or public sector.
Transitional Housing
The program offers support services to families to assist them toward their goal of self-sufficiency and establishing a permanent housing situation for them and their families.
Weatherization
The Weatherization Assistance Program works to reduce personal utility costs by improving the housing stock of low-income individuals and families.
Weatherization Statewide Training Program
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Statewide Weatherization Crew and Contractor Training Program, provides Weatherization crews and contractors training on basic Weatherization techniques. The training program is based upon the Iowa Weatherization Work standards and is designed as a café program which can be customized to include individual components or taken in its entirety.
WIC
WIC is a public health program that serves pregnant and postpartum women, and children under the age of five. WIC provides nutritious foods, nutrition education, and referrals to other health-care agencies.
Youth Initiative
HACAP’s Youth Initiative works to create opportunities for children from families negatively impacted by the economic downturn to participate in school and after school activities, who otherwise would be unable to afford participation or equipment fees. The Initiative has a work skill development component that utilizes mentors and leaders from the community.
