WIA Services
The Workforce Investment Act is a federal employment and training program administered by MATURA and serves youth, dislocated workers and low-income individuals in the counties of Adams, Adair, Clarke, Decatur, Ringgold, Taylor, Montgomery and Union.
The program provides a wide range of services to help people find employment opportunities. Using information obtained from employers, individuals receive help with resumes and interviewing skills and successfully find work using these skills. For those needing to upgrade their skills, WIA provides advice for training in a wide range of categories from basic computers to Associates Degree programs.
The Workforce Investment Act youth program serves youth throughout the eight counties in the MATURA region. Youth aged 14 to 21 are served by assisting these youth through school or helping them get back into school or work. Services include tutoring, childcare, transportation, and other services that enable students to complete their career goals.
Both WIA and Promise Jobs work closely with partner agencies to best serve our participants. These partners include Southwestern Community College, Iowa Workforce Development, Iowa Department for the Blind, Area Agency on Aging, Iowa Department of Human Services, Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services and Proteus. Many other organizations and agencies also provide services to our participants so that participants have a collection of services to assist them while pursuing their career goals.
